The Role

Hatton is a large primary special school provision, which welcomes pupils into a safe and secure environment that allows them to learn, grow and achieve their potential. Pupils are valued and respected for who they are by a team of committed, approachable and highly skilled adults. We educate pupils from the ages of 3 – 11 years with autism, social communication difficulties, speech and language needs and complex learning difficulties with associated behaviours.  We currently have 26 classes and capacity for 191 children.

We have a strong commitment to developing the skills and knowledge of those who work with us, supporting families, carers and the wider school community. Staff, parents and visitors describe the school as welcoming. As a school we value teamwork, supporting one another and acknowledging everyone’s contribution. Staff strive to reach their own potential and make the most of everyone’s skills and contributions. New staff are well supported and encouraged to develop new skills. Hatton School was rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas during its last Ofsted inspection in November 2018.

We are seeking to appoint a temporary part time (3days) maternity cover Scale 6 Learning Support Assistant with Responsibility for Cover & Release in a dynamic and forward-thinking special school. The position would suit a professional, respectful, organised, understanding and dedicated individual with a particular experience in special needs. Candidates will be able to demonstrate the confidence and capacity to plan activities, teach and manage whole classes and have the ability to support the learning of the students in their class.  Building positive relationships with students, parents and teachers forms an essential part of this role.

The successful candidate will join a creative and supportive team of colleagues with excellent educational standards. The school offers excellent opportunities for CPD. So, if you are a ‘cup half full’ kind of person and love working as part of a team, are an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual who will bring a sense of energy and passion to the role, we would love you to come and join us!

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and it is our expectation that all staff and volunteers share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
